Yes! I Am a Marketer. In fact, we are all marketers in one way or another. We do it all the time. But not only that, we all start at a very young age. Have you ever heard a small child tell their parents “I be good”? They are already marketing their perception of goodness to their parents. Some kids market their “coolness” around other kids. How many times did you want to be one of the “cool” kids? You see, when others want it, the marketing is successful!
Then the kids become teenagers. They start wearing make-up, deodorant, cologne, and they dress differently. Yes, now they are marketing themselves to attract someone. Do you want to get a part-time job while in school? Again, you have to market yourself to the employer. Trying out for a team? Auditioning for a part in a play, or playing an instrument in a band? Applying for college? Remember writing that essay along with your application? You got it! These are all examples of marketing. Job interviews. Sending out or posting resumes. The dating scene. And on and on it goes.
Additionally, We all do referral marketing. Do you excitedly tell your friends about the great movie you saw? A book you read? The restaurant around the corner? That overlooked small place that serves awesome food? People ask for and give recommendations ALL THE TIME. For example, where can I find a good ______ (fill in the blank with just about anything)?
A Scary thought about marketing
This thought occurred to me recently, and it was a little scary: Do you ever think that you market yourself every time you say or do something? Actually, it was quite a scary thought! People watch other people all the time, and they watch you. They see what you do. Hear what you say. And also notice how you interact with, and treat other people. Hmmm. I may have some work to do in this area, but that is a topic for another day. Moving along…..
Nothing happens without Marketing
It does not matter what you have or what you offer, it does not matter if no one knows about it!!! In fact, NOTHING sells itself!!! One of the best historical examples of marketing is actually the Gospel! Yes! Even Jesus was a marketer. And he trained other marketers, his disciples. Then what happened when Jesus was gone? They continued to market the Gospel! Whether you believe the Gospel or not, it all started with one guy – Jesus. It continued with his 12 disciples, and is now worldwide. In fact, the Bible is the best selling book of ALL TIME. And it all started with one man marketing!
Therefore marketing is extremely important to the economy. Without it, businesses fail, since no one knows about their products. Lots of small businesses fail, because there are not enough funds for marketing. So it becomes a chicken and egg problem. You need customers to pay for the marketing, but you need the marketing to get the customers!
“I Am A Marketer” and I can impact the economy
With that understanding of how we are all marketers, I am choosing this as a career change and new profession. People who choose to be marketers are just some of the many people that help to connect products and services with consumers. So, what do you get by being a marketer? Perks. Marketers get perks. In addition, there are also many other benefits:
- First of all, you get to work from home. Now that we have all experienced a pandemic, this perk is now what many people are looking for. They want ways to make money from home.
- Things in marketing are changing all the time, so it is never boring. As a result, there are always many new things to learn. This keeps things interesting.
- We can impact the economy by sharing what we have learned about new products and services. This helps businesses grow, and also impacts the economy of others by helping and teaching them how to be marketers.
- Within our marketing team there is always plenty of help and support, and we can all grow together. By working this way, it helps us all to have greater marketing power, and attracts bigger things to market.
- We also get to learn and grow together. We each get to pay it forward to help bring others along.
- As marketers, we get to see many new things before anyone else. This is where a lot of the fun comes into the picture!
- And finally, remember that we have all started as marketers growing up. Therefore, Anyone Can be a Marketer! This can be very profitable, because we have a proven system plenty of help and support.
